ARTISANAL STORY
ARTISANAL STORY
100% Handspun, handknit & handwoven naturally - dyed indigenous wool
With a focus on indigenous Himalayan wool from Gaddi Sheep (a special sheep known to this area), Kullvi Whims work with traditional female artisans in Kullu Valley employing craft, heritage and fibres that have been integral for generations - and hopefully for many more to come.
From fleece to fabric, every step of their value chain from sourcing wool from the nomadic shepherds who traverse the Himalayan ranges, to natural dyeing with local flora, spinning the yarn, knitting and weaving, they endeavor to embed their abundant landscape in all that they offer.
MATERIALS & CARE
MATERIALS & CARE
Our Knitwear is handspun, hand-dyed with natural dyes and handknit. To ensure you care for your pieces correctly, we suggest the following care instructions:
- fill a bucket or sink with cold water, add some wool wash or gentle detergent, and start washing gently.
- avoid hard scrubbing and rubbing, which can damage the wool. Instead, lightly dunk your knitwear and slowly swirl it around.
- gently squeeze water out and leave to air dry (out of sunlight) on washing line.

I purchased the woolen scarf and its matching headband from Kafi as a warm statement scarf for the cold winter days, and it was an exceptional experience in every way. Firstly, Maxine's patience and care while I tried on the different patterns was remarkable, the scarf itself exceeded my expectations in every way - soft, warm and exactly as pictured, and what I love most is the story behind it and the fact that it is very unique and sustainably hand made. The scarf was beautifully packaged with so much care, showing the commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. It's rare to find a blend of exceptional products and service, Kafi Folk is truly an outstanding exceptional brand. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high quality wool scarf that promises both style and warmth, as well as cares about sustainability and ethically made clothing in days when we all know the price people pay in the fast fashion world. I got so many compliments about it and I am sure I will enjoy this purchase for many years (perks of buying super high quality :)) and I am definitely looking forward to my next purchase from Kafi.
