ARTISANAL STORY

Bagru is a small Indian town located thirty kilometers outside of Jaipur – the capital of Rajasthan. Artisans have been hand printing fabrics with wooden blocks here for over 350 years.

While many Rajasthani villages have turned to screen-printing as an alternative to block printing, Bagru has remained loyal to its history, culture, and craftsmanship. This makes it one of the last existing hubs for this niche process.

Bagru Studio

Bagru Studio is a studio dedicated to block printing in both traditional and local techniques supporting artisans in this craft and connecting them to the International market through the production of these textiles.

Bagru Prints

Bagru prints are distinguished by motifs of larger sizes and strong lines & use of red, black & grey colours from natural dyes such as: madder and alum (red), iron filings, jaggery and gum (black) and Kashish (grey, khaki and brown).

ARTISANAL NOTE

This Kafi Folk garment is crafted from 100% cotton, which is block printed by hand using traditional techniques. Because of the handmade nature of the printing process, slight variations or imperfections may be present in the print.

We consider these unique characteristics to be an essential element of the garment's overall charm, as they reflect the artisan quality of the piece. Therefore, they are not considered a defect or a valid reason for a return
