Loom woven by Hungarian master weaver Angéla Csapó and carefully sewn by our talented seamstress in Budapest. This Kafi Folk piece is:
- crafted from a 100% loom woven cotton canvas in autumnal colours

- is an oversized tote bag with measurements 46 cm x 50 cm
- has 4 outer pockets, 2 on each side

This piece has been loom woven with repeating stripe patterns evoke the distinctive world of the Gyimes Csángó women's katrincák (lap skirts). This Hungarian ethnic group lives in the historical region of Hungary, in the eastern part of Transylvania (now part of Romania), and their music, dance, clothing, and archaic language are unique.

Angela Csapo
Angela Csapo is a master weaver based in Kaposvár, Hungary, with a weaving journey that began in 1988. Deeply connected to Hungarian folk traditions, Angela's work reflects her dedication to preserving the beauty of her homeland’s textile heritage while incorporating influences from cultures around the world.
Loom Weaving in Hungary
Hungarian loom weaving is a craft that stretches back centuries, known for its vibrant colors and intricate patterns. Traditionally, loom weaving was practiced in rural communities, where women would create textiles for daily use—blankets, rugs, and clothing. Angela honors this heritage by combining classic motifs with contemporary design, adapting the old to meet the needs of the modern wearer.

Our Kafi creations are made to order to maintain a sustainable process. For this reason, we do not offer refunds unless the Kafi you received is defected in some way.
